When thinking about a school artificial grass project it’s common to have some questions. We’ve collected some of the most common questions into this helpful guide.

Is artificial grass suitable for children?

Yes – in fact most of our customers are parents or education providers. Our grass is soft and thick, giving it a spongey, cushiony feel underfoot ideal for children to enjoy.

If you’re looking for our softest grass, have a look at Trulawn Supreme which is also our bestseller.

How long does artificial grass last?

Artificial grass has a minimum expected domestic lifespan of around 10-15 years with care factored in along the way. Whilst it is low maintenance, it is not zero maintenance so if you want your grass to last make sure it gets some attention every now and again.

How much does it cost?

We can roughly ballpark a figure up to a certain size, but to get an accurate idea of the cost you really need to book in a survey. That way the surveyor can measure the area accurately, determine the accessibility to site, calculate the groundwork requirements and factor in the complexity of fitting the grass around any existing structures.

In terms of the grass, our range is wide enough to cover a lot of budgets. All of them come with a 10 year guarantee against UV fading and don’t require any infill, so whichever one you choose you will have a quality option.

How long does a project take to install?

This really depends on the size, scale and intricacy of the project. We can usually install a simple domestic 40sqm lawn within a day, but school projects typically have a lot more complexity. Lots of factors can influence the time needed to install, from transporting materials to cutting around play equipment pieces.

Can you install on concrete or tarmac?

Yes we call these a lay only because there isn’t any excavation required. As long as the drainage in these areas works well before the grass is fitted, and there aren’t any cracks or crumbling, we can usually install on top of paving, decking, concrete, tarmac and wetpour.

If you’d like to enhance the feel of the grass you can add a layer of shockpad or underlay to add an extra layer of bounce.

Do you have grasses specific for sports?

As a major supplier and installer of school artificial grass project we have grasses available for MUGAs, football, tennis, cricket golf and more. If you’re just looking to cover a more general playing field our standard range of grasses are equally suitable. Whatever your requirements, there will be a grass option!

What safety measures are in place?

Our employees are DBS checked and your surveyor can provide a risk assessment if needed. We are also liability insured, a copy of which is available on request. If the site requires cordoning off this is all discussed as part of the survey to minimise any disruptions to the school and the project. Most schools choose to have their projects installed during a holiday period, though we work all year round.
