As we enter the summer season, there are plenty of fun activities for endless family fun, whether you own Artificial Grass or not!

Treasure Hunt

Thinking up interesting clues is the key to success here, there are some great suggestions online if you’re stuck for ideas. You could even draw a treasure map for the kids to follow. Why not invite friends or family round to join in the fun?

Picnic

Lay out blankets, and put the food in a basket or hamper for the full effect. If you’ve got young children, why not make it a teddy bear’s picnic!

BBQ

We advise placing your BBQ on patio or decking which is a safe distance from your artificial lawn, as the extreme heat can cause the grass to melt (which we don’t want to happen!). Read more information on hosting a BBQ with an Artificial Garden here.

Pool Party

Paddling pools are perfect for artificial lawns because there’ll be no muddy footprints in the house afterwards! If it’s a warm day, make the most of it and have a water-fight.

Movie Night or Story Time

A gazebo or pop up play tent will be perfect for this Summertime evening treat. Use cushions and blankets to get cosy, then watch a feel-good film, or read a story. If you want to make the event even more magical why not use fairy lights to decorate. Read our other suggestions on how to transform your garden from day to evening here!

Build a Den or Fort

Collect together cardboard boxes, sheets and anything else you can find, then let the kids use their imagination – will it be a team effort or a competition?

Grow Your Own

Children will love eating something they have grown themselves. If you have plenty of room you can dedicate a small area just for the kids, or if you are short on space why not give them a window box to use. August is a good time to plant leafy vegetables, radishes, onions and leeks.

Bird Watching

If you have a pair of binoculars available kids will love using them to spot the birds, but they can still have fun without. Why not get them to write down different birds they have seen, or even draw them. If you need some help on how to get birds into your garden, read our top tips on attracting birds here!

Bug Hunting

Get the children scavenging the garden for as many creepy crawlies as they can find. There are free bug charts available online where kids can tick off which bugs and insects they have found, or you can just write a list for them to use.

Leaf Prints and Tree Rubbings

Both great, simple activities, especially for younger children. Either collect leaves from the garden and bring them indoors, using paint to create prints and pictures, or take the paper and crayons outside and find interesting textures to create rubbings from.

Garden Olympics

Decide your sports, name your team, then get out there! Hula-hooping, skittles, football, an obstacle course, races – relay, egg and spoon, space hopper, three-legged, there’s plenty to choose from. What’s great about this activity is you can get the whole family involved and choose events to suit different ages. You can even give out medals or prizes to the winners!
