The quality of play

We have two types of putting green on offer, designed for both the amateur and the experienced golfer. Trulawn ProPutt is a professional grade putting grass that offers a smooth surface that offers a consistent stimp speed and is suitable for everyday play. It is consistently chosen by golf enthusiasts to install in their gardens (regardless of their ability).

Many professionals are turning to artificial putting greens to practise their short game as it’s a reliable way to keep up your skills. It’s designed to offer a similar style of play to natural golf turf as it has a short 14mm pile height.

The design

The design is really only restricted by the amount of space you have. Traditionally the green is in a circular shape with surrounding fringe, with undulations and elevations to create more interesting play and a few holes to putt into. Our surveyors work with you to create the putting green of your dreams, providing suggestions based on experience and a genuine enthusiasm for golf.

We use Trulawn Luxury as the fringe grass, this has pile height of 32mm and is made of 100% polyethylene. Along with its realistic appearance it also has great bounce back ability, useful after being stepped on for practising. Coupled with the ProPutt this creates an experience close to that of natural green. Some customers choose to combine the installation of the putting green with an overall update of their lawn, Trulawn Luxury is one of highest quality grasses currently on the market so it may be something you want to consider.

The installation

Installation can take from as little as a day to as much as a week depending on the size and design of the putting green.

Installation is incredibly important to ensure the quality of your play and the life of your green. It involves the same basic principles as if you were installing a lawn, with an aggregate base consisting of a layer of limestone and grano dust. This ensures that water can drain through, so that puddles do not pool on the green.

There is also a stabilising weed membrane laid on top to prevent any unwanted growers from popping up, and the area is edged with tanalised timber to make sure it all remains stable. Cups are fixed with concrete to make sure they also stay secure.

The cost

Trulawn ProPutt is £31 per square metre excluding VAT and installation. Installation cost varies depending on the size of the project and the amount of manpower required. This may initially seem like an expensive outlay but along with the quality of installation, and the professional grade of the grass, it is an investment that is designed to give you the most satisfaction for the longest time possible.

Proputt has a guarantee of at least 8 years, but depending on the level of use and how much it is looked after, it is expected to last for between 10 – 15 years. That’s a lot of time to spend putting! And a lot of opportunity to reduce your handicap.

The maintenance

It requires very little maintenance, just remove any stray plant debris like leaves and clear up any pet mess as soon as possible.
