If you’re hoping to install a putting green with artificial grass, but you’re unsure how to install a putting green cup we’ve put together some simple steps for you to follow.

Each project has its own requirements so there may be cases where you follow a slightly different set of steps but here is a general guide to installing a putting green cup:

  1. Lay and whack your layers of aggregate and grano for the entire area, as you would for any installation.
  2. Work out the placements for the cups – put out all the cups at once to make sure they’re the right place in relation to each other.
  3. Dig a hole out of the sub-base where you would like the cup placed.
  4. Lay a piece of membrane in the hole to help prevent weed growth through the cup.
  5. Start to cement around the cup but NOT underneath the cup. If you cement underneath the cup there will be nowhere for the water to drain when the cement goes off.
  6. Once cemented around the sides at the base, check the level. Top to bottom, left to right. The top of the cup should sit about 3-5mm above the grano.
  7. Bring the cement to the top of the surface, leaving a 3-5mm gap from cement to the top of the cup. This will allow you room to cut the ProPutt grass around the cup, and give it a nice tight, neat finish.
