Each project has its own requirements so there may be cases where you follow a slightly different set of steps but here is a general guide on how to cut and glue an artificial grass join.
- Cut off two stitches worth of grass from each piece intended to be joined. Cut close to the stitches leaving only a mm or two of backing before you hit the stitch.
- Pull the two pieces of grass together to test the join. There should be a 5mm gap between the two pieces to ensure that the blades are not competing for space.
- Look up close and at a distance before starting to join – check that the positioning is suitable for the join.
- Roll back both pieces of grass in preparation for the join.
- Place the tape flat on the membrane and white side up, positioned so there will be an equal amount of tape on both sides of the join.
- Spread the adhesive evenly with a wallpaper scraper – you need enough to cover the paper but not so much that is splurges out the sides or through the join.
- Pinch the two pieces of grass together gradually – have someone hold the grass up behind you in preparation as you go down the join.
- Apply pressure to the join as you continue to ensure the grass is sticking.
- Ruffle your hand along the join to ensure all grass blades are vertical.
- Leave to cure for 24 hours.
