How to cut in artificial grass against a wall

Our guide in how to cut in artificial grass against a wall should make the challenging task of artificial grass installation a lot easier!

Each project has its own requirements so there may be cases where you follow a slightly different set of steps but here is a general guide on how to cut fake grass against a wall.

  1. When fitting up against a wall you will want to have some excess in your grass to cut into, so you may want to purchase a slightly larger amount than the exact space to be fitted for this reason. We recommend at least 10cm of excess for this purpose.
  2. Push the grass into the corner space against the wall, and draw the blade across the grass, gently then with more force once confident it is the right fit. This creates a score line that removes the excess grass and fits perfectly in the space and up against the wall.
  3. Always cut from the grassy side rather than the stitched side to avoid inaccuracy. Cutting from the grassy side means you’re filling up the space exactly, whereas cutting from the stitch line you will always struggle to be absolutely certain you’re cutting the right amount or at the right angle.
  4. Some walls are not straight, smooth or even so this is important to make sure the grass will fit snugly.
  5. When fixing the grass to the edging it is important to make sure there are no gaps between the wall and the start of the grass both for appearance and to lower the chance of any weeds growing.
