One of the most common places to find artificial grass are urban gardens where space is limited and people just don’t have the room or time to keep mowing the lawn. If you’re looking for ways to improve your garden take a read of some of these ideas…

1. Aim High

Rather than think about width or length, think about height. Walls are basically a blank canvas and can be used to for planting. Using trellis or creating a living wall can bring life into a small space. The ground, with well placed boxes to place pots upon, can also create a graduating rise of plant life.

2. Colour creatively

Colour can be used in a number of ways to improve a small area. A pop of bold colour is perfect for brightening up dark areas. Lighter colours can make it seem like there is more space. If you have a colour scheme in your home, extend it outside so it looks like a continuation of the interior.

3. Tricks of the eye

Reflect light by putting in a water feature or mirror. This helps give the illusion of space, as well as give your garden a bit of a focal point. Mirrors are a great centre piece to a foliage wall or can give a piazza area a bit of character. A water feature can be a calming influence in busy urban areas, though it is important to think about maintenance. And if you have bins or equipment stored outside, build them a wooden home that hides them away from view. Who wants to stare at the rubber when you go outside?!

4. Modern Muse

Modern is minimal. Use box hedges for the city look. Use reclaimed wood and metals for industrial chic. Overgrown can be charming in some instances but suffocating in others. Whilst it’s good to make use of the space that you have, neat, clean lines and symmetrical designs are always pleasing to the eye. Artificial grass is one of the surfaces that fits into this category, with the well-tended neat look very popular with customers who don’t have room for a lawnmower.

5. Light it up

Add lights. Fairy lights or lanterns are one of the simplest ways to bring a bit of character into your garden. They are usually relatively cheap but can create an atmosphere perfect for entertaining. They too would look especially charming reflected in a mirror!
