One of the biggest misconceptions about artificial grass is that it’s too expensive. This might be because people don’t know what to compare it to, or don’t have a great understanding of artificial grass in the first place. That’s why I thought I’d go through some of the key things to think about when considering the cost of artificial grass.

Product cost…

  • Carpet £10 – £60 (psqm)
  • Wood flooring £15 – £40 (psqm)
  • Engineered Wood flooring £20 – £80 (psqm)
  • Artificial Grass £10 – £35 (psqm)
  • Trulawn Grass £12.99 – £28.99 (psqm) (ex VAT)

The closest thing to artificial grass is actually carpet and quite a few factories manufacture both. Though artificial grass might not be quite as soft as some carpets you can say it’s more durable. Artificial grass braves the elements of the Great British weather, is really easy to clean, and all of ours are stabilised against UV fading.

It’s expected to last in excess of 15 years which is a lot longer than can be said for some carpets or flooring. High quality grasses like our Trulawn Luxury or Trulawn Supreme feel very plush underfoot. When you consider the time and energy you will also save not having to mow it, it might not seem as expensive.

Installation cost…

As with any installation there are some variables that will affect the cost, here are a few:

  • Size – Generally the bigger the project the lower the proportional installation cost
  • Access – If you have no easily accessible back garden gate or limited road/driveway access then this could increase the man power required to transport and distribute materials.
  • State of the garden – A garden that needs more preparation work will potentially need more manpower, more materials and more tools for installation. That’s why two gardens with the same square meterage could be different costs.

Most artificial grass companies, as with any landscaping service, tend not to publish their installation costs because there are a fair few considerations. A general cost could be misleading, so it’s really better to get an individual quote tailored to you. All of our quotes are free and no obligation, so if you’re interested in getting artificial grass give us a call or get in touch!

Reverse the cost – look at the gain…

Do you struggle to find time to cut the grass? Does the state of your lawn give you angst? Do your pets need somewhere they can play without making a mess?

  • No mud
  • No mowing or transporting clippings
  • More free time
  • A place for kids to play
  • A place for the pets to use
  • A tidy garden
  • Super easy to maintain

Whilst cost is super important, it’s also good to think about how much you could gain from getting artificial grass in the first place!
