If you’re thinking about getting fake grass for pets or more specifically your dog, but you’re not sure if it’s right for you, don’t worry we’ve got all our most commonly questions below!

Which fake grass is best for dogs?

We recommend choosing a mid-high-end fake grass in our range because the durability is enhanced to better cope with activity. You may also like to consider a grass with a 32mm height, if you choose anything much longer it can make cleaning their mess a bit trickier.

All of our grasses are suitable for dogs so at the end of the day, it’s really down to personal preference!

Will pet mess discolour artificial turf?

No. One of the great advantages of artificial turf is that it doesn’t turn a different colour when a dog uses it as a toilet.

Is fake grass safe to use for both my dogs and children?

Absolutely. All of our grasses are designed to be safe for both children and pets. Another great benefit of fake grass is that you can sterilise or clean it with minimum fuss. For small children crawling around, you may be worried about them using the same surface that the dog uses as a toilet. With artificial grass you can clean this surface easily so that everyone can enjoy using the garden at the same time.

How do you clean artificial grass used by dogs?

We recommend picking up pet mess when it is dropped and rinsing down the area, particularly if it’s a bit sloppy! Warm soapy water or disinfectant can be used on artificial grass to help clean away the odours that can be associated with dog urine.

We have our own artificial grass cleaner available with a fresh floral smell, but other brands are available to use. If using another brand, always test a patch on a small area of your grass to make sure you are happy to use on the whole lawn.

What is Trulawn Zeolite?

For a small number of owners, their dog’s urine might be particularly smelly due to the breed, sex or health of their pet.

Trulawn Zeolite is an amazing granule you can add to the surface of the lawn to stop odours from developing. It prevents the odour from becoming a gas, which is how you can smell it in the first place! It’s brushed into the lawn so that you can’t see it and is safe for kids to play on too.

We recommend this if you have a smaller garden used regularly as a toilet, a lot of dogs, or if your dog has smelly urine.

Can a dog dig up artificial grass?

Our grass is highly durable, so for fluffy boys and girls just playing around you shouldn’t have a problem. If your dog is bored because it doesn’t have enough exercise or has breed characteristics around digging, then they’re more likely to attempt it. They will find it difficult to get through the hard backing, but artificial grass is not indestructible!
