If you’re looking for places to take the kids this autumn there are lots of gardens up and down the country with plenty of space to play, explore and see the sights of Autumn.

Fallen leaves tend to be the bane of most gardens, and are a real nuisance to your lawn drainage despite the pretty colours! With artificial grass you can save loads of time on maintaining your garden, only requiring a leaf sweep in the autumn months. This gives you loads more time to spend with the kids, so why not get some fresh air, gambol in the leaves and see some of the most impressive gardens or forests in the UK?

Westonbirt Arboretum – Gloucestershire (All year)

If you love a crispy autumnal walk, this is the best place to see the colours change on the trees, and kick up the leaves with your wellies. With over 18000 shrubs and trees, this is a world famous site and the UK’s favourite arboretum, gloriously maintained by the Forestry commission. Look out for the Japanese Maples for an amazing pop of red on your way round.

RHS Wisley Harvest Weekend – Surrey ( 24th, 25th October)

Autumn is a great time for produce and you can taste it at the Wisley Garden Harvest Weekend. With apple pressing, chilli tasting, and display hives from Surrey Bees it’s a great opportunity to get the kids interested in this time of year. (With a bit of cider tasting for mum and dad too!)

Conkers Creepy Halloween– Derbyshire (29th, 30th, 31st October)

Conkers is a family friendly centre at the heart of the National Forest, a conservation site created by the National Forest Trust to bring lasting environmental, educational and recreational facilities for people to enjoy in perpetuity. Go for a spooky Halloween walk in the forest, followed by an Ugly Bug Disco at the Waterside Centre.

Enchanted Forest – Perthshire (1st October – 1st November)

If you’re going for a short break in Scotland, try and check out the Enchanted Forest in Faskally Wood. The place is illuminated with lights, music and aerial artists fill the trees as you walk through forest. Consistently voted one of Scotland’s best events by VisitScotland, this could be a magical place to spend time with the family.

Lost Gardens of Heligan – Cornwall (All year)

If you’ve got history buffs in the family this is a great place to explore. Once lost after all its gardeners went off to fight in WW1, this was rediscovered in the 1970s as an overgrown secret garden with a message left behind on the door. It’s now a site recognised by the Imperial War Museum as a ‘Living Memorial’ to those who fought. If you want wonder and mystery this is the place to go.
