Holy Cross Primary, Plymouth
This is a great example of a school utilising limited space and using artificial grass to make a big difference. As you can see this area was not the on the ground level, which meant that a traditional natural grass area was not possible. And with the broken paving slabs in the middle posing a safety risk to the kids, the school chose to cover the area with artificial grass to soften it up and make it better for staff and students to use.
The installation involved clearing the area of tiles and laying 25mm shock pad. Shock pad is a good option for roofs and terraces as it can be transported easily and used as an alternative when the ground cannot be dug up. It has a spongy but firm feel underfoot which is great for little kids to run around on. Trulawn Luxury grass was chosen as the surface, which is a dense, realistic grass that feels as good as it looks!
