Winter can be a tricky time to install artificial grass with all types of weather to contend with, but this is often true of Spring too! If the ground isn’t frozen, it’s raining and quite often it’s both. If you think you can’t install any grass and will lose a day’s income, we’ve got a few top tips to keep your business running smoothly through the period.

Our manufacturer’s adhesive is designed to be used in temperatures as low as 5 degrees Celsius. If installing on a cold day, place the adhesives in the foot well of your vehicle with the heaters on. This will warm the adhesive and make it far more pliable for use when required.

Seaming in torrential rain should be avoided. Water will mix with the adhesive and ‘bubble up’ through the joint, damaging your seam and the grass around it. The adhesive will also attempt to bond with the water (and not the tape) leaving you with no join, or at best a weak one.

Investing in a few simple items will also save you from losing a day’s work when the weather is against you. A cheap gazebo, quick to build and light weight enough to easily move, will keep you and the area you are seaming dry whilst you work.

For protecting any finished joins which are now open the elements and yet to cure, purchase a light weight tarpaulin sheet. Cut it into one metre wide strips and roll it out over completed joins. A few temporary nails or a weighty object will keep it from moving.

The same tarpaulin technique can be used to protect any seaming tape you have rolled out ready in preparation for jointing. Adhesive will not take well to wet tape and you may damage the tape if you try to spread the adhesive.

Having these few items ready will give you the confidence to install at your leisure, safe with the knowledge your work will be protected from the elements. This means you can walk away with your profits intact and a happy customer ready to sing your praises!
