We recently attended the Eagle360 BIZ Business Awards 2017. Eagle360’s BIZ initiative is a business network operated by Eagle Radio, which champions local companies and offers access to training, networking and social events for local businesses.
A celebration of Business in Surrey and Hampshire
The 2017 BIZ Awards lunch was held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, an incredible venue with an impressive selection of modern and classic vehicles. The afternoon of entertainment included live music from local girl Rachel Rose, of The Voice fame, and an inspirational Keynote speech by Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE, the founder of ParkRun.
We were thrilled to attend the awards, especially as we were shortlisted for Business of the Year! The award recognises ‘a company leading the way in business excellence’. To be a finalist in this category felt like a genuine recognition of all our hard work and just how far we’ve come as a company.
We were up against some tough competition from two other great local companies, SkyLofts and Denbies Wine Estate Ltd, so you can imagine our surprise, and delight, when we were announced as the winners. As our MD Ian Parry put it – “We genuinely did not expect to win!”
In presenting the award, Eagle said:
“Trulawn were selected by our judges as they’re a shining example to other local entrepreneurs of just what is possible when sheer determination and great sales and customer focus combine.”
Our Company and Background
Trulawn was founded by local lads, Ian Parry and Ritchie Stewart, who have lived in Hampshire since their school days and been best friends since childhood. The pair started Trulawn in 2008, initially working out of Ian’s home, however the company has grown significantly since then.
Trulawn now employs 35 people with a dedicated head office located in Sandhurst, Berkshire. We are a major supplier of high quality artificial grass and installation services, both locally through our in-house teams, and nationwide, via our extended network of installation partners across the UK.
Local Boys at Heart
A local presence has always been important to the founders, so it’s a real pleasure to win the Business of the Year Award, from a Surrey and Hampshire focused organisation like Eagle Radio.
Ian attended the awards with our Sales Manager Pedro Gomes. Ian said he was ‘chuffed’ with the outcome, and when asked why he thought they had won over the other contenders, Pedro said he thought it was because of the ‘personal level of service’ that the team always offer their customers.
