‘Mud, mud, glorious mud…’ we disagree! When it’s trampled in through the house from the garden it’s not so glorious. Nor is it glorious when it ruins the look of a perfectly manicured lawn after a few rainy days. Or even when it stops the kids playing outside when fresh air is the order of the day.

At Trulawn we don’t think mud should get in the way of you enjoying your outside space.  Making the switch to artificial grass is the best way to make sure mud doesn’t mess with you, your home or your garden.

So now we’ve got the mud out the way, here are some ideas on how you can still enjoy your garden in the autumn months and some top tips on how to get the kids into the great outdoors in all weather…

Hang a bird feeder in the garden (preferably somewhere easily visible from the house) and start noticing the regular visitors. You’ll be surprised how quickly you start noticing the same feathered friends coming for their tea. If you’ve got kids you could count the number of birds that visit. You could also keep a record of the different types of birds using it as the weather gets colder and the feeder becomes more popular.

Kids dig digging – this is a good time of year to dig and tidy your borders. You’ll be surprised how much kids enjoy digging in dirt!

Flowers aren’t just for the summer! For a pop of colour plant some autumn flowering crocuses in pots on the patio. The bulbs grow really quickly so you won’t have to wait long for your autumn blooms.

Get the kids in the garden and help them create their own mini vegetable patch. It doesn’t have to be anything too big or ‘all singing & dancing’ – just help them sow some seeds ready to harvest in spring such as broad beans.

If you are lucky enough to have artificial grass you can use the time you would have spent tending to your lawn (i.e. removing moss , raking and trimming untidy borders) planning your own garden fireworks party for a few of your friends. I know it’s a bit early but we love a good fireworks party here at Trulawn. Watch out for Ritchie’s guide to the perfect fireworks party coming soon… he’ll be giving lots of tips to make sure it goes with bang (sorry couldn’t resist!)
