If you’re planning on updating your garden with artificial grass you might like to know how it’s going to fit in with the other features of your garden. One common feature is patio and paving, with most people in the UK having at least some form of stones or slabs usually meeting a lawn. If you’re looking for inspiration and some examples of what artificial grass might look in your garden, look no further!

Pros of Artificial Grass and Patio

  • Neat lines throughout the year
  • No chance of damaging stone with a lawnmower
  • Opportunity for interesting designs
  • No tricky stepping stones to cut around

Key Things to Consider When Choosing Patio

  • Colour can differ greatly between pieces. Sandstone is very popular but be aware that there will be inflections of other colours within the stone that you might not be able to tell from the brochure. And that these colours may be different when wet.
  • Keep in mind who will be using the stone. Some surfaces like granite or limestone can get slippery when wet, if it is an area for children or the elderly a different surface may be more suitable. This is also something to consider with maintenance; lighter colours may require more frequent cleaning.
  • Make sure you pick a stone that will cope with UK weather and potential freezing.
  • Stone of lesser depths (25mm) are perfect for footfall but if the stone is going on a driveway than something stronger (40mm) will be needed.
  • Stones of varied thickness will take longer to be laid, so factor this into your budget when it comes to the installation.
