One of the great things about artificial grass is that you can use it all year round. It’s a great opportunity to get regular fresh air and exercise that will do wonders for your mind and body. But if you’re spending a lot of time outside of there are a few others things you should remember so that you can have the best possible time outside.

Protect yourself from the sun

It’s important to get some sun, because Vitamin D helps create healthy bones. But if you get too much you can permanently damage your skin and have problems later on. That’s why it’s essential you remember to wear sun screen of at least 30spf and reapply every hour. Whether it is gardening, lunch outside, or the kids are playing games on a cloudy day, protect the parts of the body that will be in sunlight by covering up. And if you’re prone to sweating, use sun sunscreen that is water resistant.

Stay hydrated

We’re supposed to drink between 6-8 glasses of fluid a day, but honestly who keeps track? When it’s a warm day and you’re outside you might end up sweating a little more than normal. That’s why it’s essential that you remember to stay hydrated. If you’re doing an activity make sure you take regular breaks to re-fuel, you might not even be aware that you’re dehydrated! This is especially true if you’re playing water games on the fake lawn, being cool isn’t the same as being hydrated!

Keep allergies in mind

Artificial grass is one way of alleviating your allergies, so go crazy rolling around on the lawn or doing a spot of sunbathing! But if there’s a breeze and you live by the trees, you could still be susceptible!  That’s why it’s a good idea to keep in mind your allergies when you plan on staying outside. The pollen season is at its worst during the morning and evening, but bear in mind that the sun is at its hottest between 10am-2pm. If you’ve got jobs to do in the gardening, try and stagger them around these times.

Artificial grass is perfect for use throughout the year so make sure you keep these essential things in mind as you spend your days relaxing in your garden. For advice on how to look after yourself when your outside, visit the NHS website or the MET office website for more information.
