Royal Pavilion Brighton

It was with great pleasure that we were asked to improve the grounds at the Royal Pavilion, once home to King George IV and designed by legendary architect John Nash.

The distinctive exotic structure is a landmark in the Brighton area, and does not fail to attract the attention of all who visit or pass it.

Trulawn came in to improve the southern entrance to the grounds, known as the India Gate. The gate was built in recognition of the Pavilion’s role as a hospital to Indian patients during the First World War and was opened by the Maharajah of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh.

As you can see the grounds were suffering under heavy traffic as it is a popular museum and communal area for people to walk through. Parts also spend long periods in the shadow of the pavilion, which can inhibit the growth of grass.

Trulawn Continental was chosen to meet the aesthetic of the surroundings. It has a slightly darker root zone that matches the rugged shrubs and bushes that line the grounds.

You can see in these pictures that extra silica sand is being brushed into the area to allow for the amount of regular traffic experienced.
