Is artificial grass harmful to the environment?

The Artificial Grass Environment reduces the use of pesticides and fertilisers. Many of which can be harmful when ingested by animals and detrimental to plant life, your lawn and the surrounding area.

Artificial grass can also improve ground drainage in areas of poor quality soil. So it can actually help prevent water-logging and run off, both of which can be harmful to animals and their habitats.

Artificial Grass Environment Installation Materials

Artificial grass is made of plastic, however, we use child and pet safe plastics polyethylene and polypropylene.

The rest of the installation involves mostly natural materials:

  • A thin, porous stabilisation membrane which acts as a layer to prevent transference into the soil.
  • Limestone aggregate and grano dust which are used for the draining base.
  • The perimeter of the lawn is typically edged with timber.

An artificial grass installation is usually between just 6-8cm in depth, almost half the depth of a typical patio.
