Artificial grass is low maintenance, not no maintenance.

Having an artificial grass lawn installed can be a significant investment, so it’s important to take care of it. Of course, in the long run artificial grass will save you money as you don’t need to reseed, water or mow the lawn, but there are just a few things you need to do to keep your Trulawn in perfect condition. Regular care will keep your lawn looking lush and green.

Clear it off

Leaves, debris and dirt can make their way onto your lawn, especially as we head into Autumn. Any organic matter should be removed as quickly as possible, to ensure it does not begin to rot and impair the drainage of your artificial grass. You can collect occasional bits and pieces by hand, sweep them off, or use a leaf blower / garden vacuum.

Rain or shine

When we are lucky enough to have warm sunny days you may want to hose down your Trulawn for a refreshingly cool surface underfoot. However, as we head into Autumn and the weather changes, you may soon find yourself faced with frosty mornings – just leave the ice to melt naturally, and the water will then drain away. Attempting to remove the ice while frozen could damage the grass surface fibres.

Basic tips

Artificial grass is a made of a tough synthetic fibre – but it is not invincible!

No broken glass or sharp objects – these can damage the surface of your grass, and could also cause accident/injury.

Do not stick anything through your lawn – eg. Tent pegs – puncturing the grass and weed membrane will cause permanent damage.

No sources of heat – where possible use anything hot on a solid surface such as a paved area – fireworks, bonfires and BBQs are not safe for use on artificial grass and will cause permanent damage. If you have friends coming around who smoke be sure to provide ashtrays so they are not tempted to drop cigarette butts.

Keep adhesives and industrial oils well away – Certain spills, such as battery acid, grease, motor oil and similar substances can discolour or damage synthetic turf, so be sure to do any mechanical repairs away from your Trulawn.
