New homes
Newly built homes often have gardens that are unfinished. The ground tends to be made up of building dirt rather than soil which will actually allow plants to grow!
Compacted soil
If you’ve got a garden that isn’t regularly maintained or a lawn that isn’t routinely aerated then compacted soil can also hinder drainage. This can be made worse if your house has been built on land with a high clay content.
Concrete jungle
In some places the ‘garden’ simply consists of paving slabs or hard concrete. If the slabs are in good condition then you can lay artificial grass over the top, or take it up and have artificial grass laid instead.
Before & after
Key garden features
Sleepers – These create tidy borders and can be used to create levels within the garden.
Raised beds – It is far easier to replace the dirt with soil and add some plant life into your garden with a raised bed. They are also great if you have mobility issues as they require less bending.
Patio area – If you like to barbecue it’s good to have an area you can do this without potentially spoiling your artificial grass. Stone that is kept clean, can also provide a lovely visual contrast to the green of the grass.
Decking – Also compliments artificial grass, and is another option if you do not have adequate ground quality to grow plants. Decking is a great location for containers and plant pots, so that you can still have splashes of florals.
