Artificial grass is very common for pet owners, as it is a surface that can make both animals and humans happy.
You may have heard the reasons for getting fake grass for dogs; it’s usable all year, never needs cutting and looks just like the real stuff. It can make a discoloured lawn green again, as well as provide a place that wont get muddy from little paws. Read on for more information about artificial grass for dogs…
1. Pets take to it pretty quickly
Imagine you have a play area that is wearing thin with hard earth underneath, and then imagine re-surfacing that area with something soft and dense. Dogs love comfort just as much as humans and artificial grass and dogs go together with ease. It feels very similar to real grass and looks almost identical, accept it can’t be easily dug up or made muddy. We also assure you that our artificial grass is safe for pets as there is no toxin layers upon our grass. Just a soft, natural feel and appearance.
2. It can make a big difference to a small dog’s life
The world can be an intimidating place for a small dog, and grass that is overgrown can be an unwelcome obstacle for little legs. If your synthetic lawn for dogs is always at a nice and tidy length this may persuade your dog to go outside more often, get more exercise, and may help them do their business with ease. Of course – its not just dogs that can benefit. Our entire range can be classified as artificial grass for pets so your cat can enjoy it too!
3. Shorter pile heights are easier to clean
You probably know how much of a pain it can be trying to scoop up a dog’s business when the grass needs a cut, which is why fake grass for pets will make this job much easier. Whilst there are many tempting, lusciously long grasses out there, a shorter grass like Trulawn Esteem or our Trulawn Play are perfect for pets and look just like a freshly cut summer lawn.
4. Shock pad isn’t meant for pets
Shock pad is a cushioning surface meant for laying around children’s play equipment and is most commonly found in schools, though some people choose to install it in their homes. Whilst it will drain rainwater, pet urine can leave behind some smells in the foamy layer which can become noticeable over a time. If your installation is meant for children and pets, you may want to consider if shock pad is truly essential.
5. It can cope with your pets’ habits
Does your pet like to lie in a certain spot? Fake grass compacts and can spring back but if it is regularly compacted, it might need a bit of a brush up more regularly. It’s the same if you have garden furniture, or play equipment.
Like to do their business in the same area? To keep the area sanitary, and prevent potential smells, we suggest washing these areas with warm soapy water. The good thing is – the area won’t become discoloured and the grass won’t die. If drainage is a concern for you, we recommend our latex-free grasses such as Trulawn Pooch or Trulawn Harmony Plus for your lawn.
Like to kick their legs up? Grass is made of plastic with a tough backing that is very hard wearing against dogs digging. It won’t get ruined by energetic play or active animals.
In general fake lawns don’t need much looking after, we recommend giving it a brush every now and again to keep the pile vertical and removing pet mess just like you would on a normal lawn. You can find more information at our FAQ pages.
