One of the fantastic things about artificial grass is how little maintenance it requires, but it does take a little work to put it in.

When you’re doing repetitive tasks, manual labour or are working in a certain way it can cause strain on your muscles and joints that ends up in pain. To make sure we all take care of our bodies, take a look at these 10 things you can do…

1. Change your mattress

If you wake up with your back aching, it might be because you’ve got a dodgy bed or mattress. Your mattress shouldn’t really be older than 10 years, and if you don’t flip it regularly it might be doing more harm than good.

2. Stretch yourself out

Reduce your exercise down to a gentle level, stopping completely can actually cause your muscles more damage.

3. Check your weight

Extra weight causes extra strain on the body. Make sure your weight is at a healthy amount for your body.

4. Try body therapy

It might be worth seeing your Doctor first to see which course of therapy your body needs, but a physiotherapist or a chiropractor could do wonders.

5. Water activities

A light swim, or time in a whirlpool, can ease joint pain. The water buoyancy will reduce the strain on the body, whilst warm jets that target the aggrieved area can offer relief.

6. Ice pack/Heat pack

A cool ice pack wrapped up in a cloth can reduce swelling and inflammation whilst heat can help with cramping and spasms.

7. Relaxation

Stress and worry will aggravate your pain if your muscles are tensed. Find something relaxing to do and think positively, those who do tend to get better more quickly.

8. Painkillers

Always to be used in moderation, and should pain persist a visit to your doctor is recommended.

9. Check your posture

Is your posture poor? Are you doing activities incorrectly? Make sure you’re not straining your back by lifting, digging or even sitting incorrectly. It might be as simple as adjusting your car seat!

10. Fresh air

A bit of fresh air can do wonders to you psyche. People often recommend gardening as a great way to get fresh air, but if you’re not the type to enjoy getting your hands muddy a nice relaxing stroll could be just the thing.
