  • Newsround feature Artificial Lawn at Rosendale Library Bus

Astro turf suppliers Trulawn were part of an exciting project recently involving creating a safe play area around a library bus. The launch was attended by the local press and BBC Newsround and featured the unique concept of using an old bus to create a new library for the school children.

Artificial grass was seen as the ideal surfacing solution around the bus as fake grass is low maintenance and the children can sit on the surface during the warmer months.

There was a grand opening in July with author Michael Morpurgo cutting the ribbon and taking lots of questions from the children.

The children have been making full use of the library. They are all timetabled in with their classes for an hour a week and have the opportunity to take books out after school. The reading garden which features the artificial turf has been a huge success. The children come in their droves to listen to stories or share a book with a friend. If the books aren’t put out in time the children knock on the door and want to know why! It is not just the enthusiastic readers who use the garden. There are many children who have shown little interest in books who are now coming and choosing a book to read, and when they have finished that, taking another.
