You might be thinking the summer is over so you’ve missed your opportunity to update your lawn, well let me tell you – it’s not true! In fact, there are plenty of reasons to install before the year is up.

1. Crazy growing!

If it’s been a particularly hot summer chances are your grass will go crazy at the slightest bit of rain. Grass guzzles up water like nobody’s business and if your grass is growing it means you have to spend more time cutting. And who’s got time for that with work, the school run and all sorts going on? Artificial grass eliminates the need for cutting or transporting clippings, especially good if you struggle to get out and about.

2. Drowned grass!

Lots of rain can also make your lawn waterlogged, a particular problem if you have non-porous soil that’s mostly clay, or particularly muddy if there’s a very patchy layer of grass. Drowned or soggy grass can be a real nightmare to try and bring back to life, and artificial grass can save you some trouble. The grass also has a porous backing which allows the water to pass from surface to sub-base, this sub-base consists of an aggregate layer of limestone and a layer of grano dust which may make drainage easier in the future.

3. Sports Season!

Plenty of sport goes on in the Autumn and Winter months. The Rugby World Cup starts in September, it might be that you’re feeling inspired or your kids want to get more involved with sports at school. Artificial grass means your lawn can be used without fear of making a muddy mess and can be used for practice all year round.

4. Dirty pets!

If you’re fed up of your pets getting dirty every time they go outside fake grass is a great solution. At the same time it makes a soft, fun environment to play on during the cold, winter months. Having a garden they can roll around on can cheer up any animal during the cold season. Just think of it as a luxurious outdoor carpet you can both enjoy.

5. It’s party season!

Fake grass is great if you plan on entertaining. Whether it’s a birthday, Halloween, Christmas or New Year; if your garden is in good condition you can hold it outside. If you’re worried about the cold, perhaps invest in some outdoor heaters or distribute some hot water bottles. You can also spruce up your trees by draping fairy or Christmas lights. There’s definitely something cozy about bundling up in hats and scarves!

6. Get a head start on next year!

Perhaps you want to be a bit fitter? Getting a new lawn could be a part of your New Year’s Resolution. You can train to your hearts content with a fake lawn, no way you’re getting muddy! Maybe you’d like to build something, why not do it outside? What about a bit of gardening? Update your lawn and give yourself a chance for a clean slate in the New Year. Having a garden is like having an extra room, use it for something and make the most of it.

7. Easy installation!

Often the ground is actually softer than in the summer months making it easier to install. If you want to install it yourself than it might be worth waiting until after summer when there is a bit more give in the ground. The only thing in your way might be the weather, but only very heavy rain keeps our installers away.

8. A lawn is for life not just for summer!

As if you’re not already convinced by all the reasons above, installing artificial grass is an investment for year round benefits. Why should you be prevented from using your lawn to a few months (or a few weeks) a year when you could use it all year round! There’s also minimal maintenance required. If you’ve got a lot of trees then it’s a good idea to sweep up your fallen leaves just like you would on a natural lawn, this stops any decaying debris from affecting the drainage of your lawn as well as keep your grass vertical.
