It’s not all that often we get snow here in the UK, but it does happen.

If you have a Trulawn, or are thinking about getting artificial grass, then you may want to know what to do when there is frosty, icy or snowy weather. Well don’t panic, we’ve put down the ten main things you need to know, all in one handy list:

  1. Generally artificial grass will cope just fine with the wintry conditions experienced in the UK.
  2. The colour of your grass won’t be affected by frost or snow.
  3. It’s fine to play on the grass when there is a covering of snow.
  4. Just like natural grass, artificial grass can be slippery when ice forms so do be careful.
  5. Let snow and ice melt away naturally.
  6. Grass may be slightly flattened down after snow has covered it, but should bounce back naturally with time, or you can always use a broom to help lift the pile if necessary.
  7. We don’t recommend the use of salts to melt ice and snow, as excess salt could affect the drainage holes in the grass backing.
  8. We also don’t recommend shovelling snow, unless absolutely necessary, as hard force could damage the grass surface and backing.
  9. If you have time, and know that snow is forecast, try to sweep any leaf debris off the lawn to stop it turning wet and mulchy.
  10. If you are particularly worried about protecting your lawn from snow and ice, you could always lay tarpaulin down to avoid direct contact.

It doesn’t take much to look after a Trulawn throughout the year, and Winter is no different. Just keep this advice in mind and your lawn will be right as rain all the way through to Spring.
