With summer here we give you 10 ideas of things to do in your back garden in the sun and how to keep the children entertained in the great outdoors. Let’s have some garden fun…

1. Create some memories in the garden; bring out watercolour or oil paint and sketch a few pictures. Can’t be bothered with the mess the kids might make? No problem, give them a camera and set them a task of photographing as many flowers as they can find while you sit back and chill!

2. Play some badminton, summer is the perfect excuse to get out there and get fit. What better way than doing it in your own back garden? To add to the fun you can always turn it into a little tournament and see who the best in the family is. Loads of laughs and fun guaranteed.

3. Invite your family or friends (or both… ;-)) for a lovely barbeque. There is nothing better than sitting and relaxing with your friends in the sun with a glass of wine.

4. Take out your children’s paddling pool and jump in or sit down, chill and watch the kids go crazy for water play.

5. Bring out your favourite book out and enjoy reading in the sun. Let yourself take a minute out of your busy day and just relax! Get the children on the trampoline and forget about the world.

6. Get yourself outside and recreate the top moments from the World Cup with your kids (perhaps not the Louis Suarez goals!) It will be a great way to spend time with your children in the fresh air. Come on, leave the house and enjoy the weather!

7. Hold a garden treasure hunt…Invite your children’s friends and hold the best treasure hunt in history. Don’t worry, you don’t need much space; hints and good hiding places are the key to success. Watch them run around and have fun.

8. Want to go on a holiday or camping this year but don’t have the energy (let’s face it camping trips with the kids are never that relaxing!)? Get your tents outside and sleep in your OWN back garden under the stars. The great thing is that if camping is not for you…you can always escape back to the house ;-)

9. Have a picnic! Organise a basket with all your favourite food, bring out the blankets, lie down and relax. Get the kids’ involved too by giving it a ‘teddy bear’s picnic’ theme. It will give you the perfect chance to catch some sunshine and hopefully a tan too.

10. Plan a romantic dinner with your partner. Not had a chance to spend some time alone without the kids? Put them to bed and get yourself outside! Have a nice, romantic dinner and enjoy the stars above you.
